Everyone that I live with left for the Yasawa islands last night, but I couldn't go because of this marine biology field trip. Sad. I am really bummed out though - I haven't really spent a ton of time hanging out with everyone between going away with a different group of people last weekend and studying all this week - I was looking forward to spending quality time with everybody again. But, they'll be back the day that I finish my marine biology field trip, so hopefully I can rally some people to go up to Taveuni with me. Taveuni is the third largest island in Fiji, and has lots of great things to do: there's a huge national park (with a natural waterslide and lots of endemic species of plants and bugs and animals!), and a ton of diving sites along the Rainbow Reef, some of which are among the top diving sites in the world. We would leave Wednesday on an overnight boat (fun!) and then stay there for the rest of the week. Between going there and being away for my field trip, I won't be around internet too much over the next week, but as usual I'll attack this thing with post updates as soon as I get back to technology and internet.

Exam Week Is Over!
So, I survived the week. My tests were kind of ridiculously easy (at least, the ones that I had time to really actually study for). I feel smart again, like in high school, not like at Williams where I feel on the same intelligence level as a well trained dog. Since this week was spent studying, there isn't really anything to report on. Actually, while I was having The Worst 3 Hours Ever (in a mission to scan a picture, put it in a Word document, and print it out, which is about as difficult a task as it gets in Fiji), I went to pick up a care package at the post office. The customs officer said that I had more than the allowed amount of goods in the box, and should technically pay a 30% tax on it, at which point I think I looked like I was either about to cry or shoot someone because he wrote me a note saying something along the lines of "I can't say this out loud because I'm under surveillance, but don't worry about paying the fee, just don't let it happen again please". So yesterday a tall stern looking Fijian mail at the post office restored my faith in people after I had been stomping around all afternoon. Nichole also made my day better by coming in with surprise leftover enchiladas after I hadn't eaten all day because I was so busy, which put me in an even better mood. Last night was spent out celebrating the start of mid-semester break with some of the other students stuck here for the field trip.
